Patriotic Youths Education, Cultural and Social organization (PYECSO)
Patriotic Youths Education, Cultural and Social Organization (PYECSO) is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization registered with the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Established in 2006 under the name of PYECSA, the organization later underwent a name change to PYECSO to better align with its evolving goals and objectives and meet formal registration requirements.
Focus: PYECSO is committed to playing an active and effective role in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Afghanistan. Recognizing the pivotal role of youth and children in shaping the nation's future, PYECSO focuses on providing professional skills, capacity building, skill-based literacy, vocational training, and community mobilization initiatives. Our aim is to empower Afghan youth with the qualifications, skills, and professionalism necessary for a developed, civilized, and prosperous Afghanistan.
Empowering Women and Girls: In line with our commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls, PYECSO implements several initiatives aimed at addressing the unique challenges they face and ensuring their active participation in our programs and activities:

Women-Centered Vocational Training: PYECSO offers vocational training programs tailored specifically for women and girls, equipping them with skills in areas such as tailoring, embroidery, handicrafts, and small-scale entrepreneurship. These programs not only provide women with valuable skills for economic independence but also contribute to preserving and promoting traditional Afghan crafts.

Gender-Sensitive Literacy Programs: Recognizing the importance of literacy in empowering women and girls, PYECSO runs gender-sensitive literacy programs aimed at enhancing their reading, writing, and numeracy skills. These programs are designed to accommodate the needs and constraints faced by women and girls, including flexible scheduling and childcare support.

Women's Leadership and Community Engagement: PYECSO organizes workshops and training sessions focused on building women's leadership capacities and encouraging their active involvement in community decision-making processes. By fostering women's leadership skills and confidence, we aim to promote their meaningful participation in shaping their communities' development agendas.

Gender Mainstreaming in All Programs: We integrate gender considerations into all aspects of our programming, ensuring that the needs, priorities, and perspectives of women and girls are systematically addressed. This includes conducting gender analysis, disaggregating data by sex, and implementing targeted interventions to address gender disparities and promote gender equality.

Awareness and Advocacy: PYECSO conducts awareness-raising campaigns and advocacy efforts to promote gender equality, challenge harmful gender norms and stereotypes, and raise awareness about women's rights and empowerment. Through community dialogues, public events, and media outreach, we seek to foster a more inclusive and gender-equitable society.
Key Initiatives and Partnerships: As active members of key groups and clusters such as the Afghanistan Education Cluster, Gender in Humanitarian Action Workgroup (GIH WG), Food Security and Agriculture Cluster (FSAC), Afghanistan Youth Workgroup (AY WG), and partners with UNESCO/Afghanistan Youth and Adult Basic Education (YABE) and UN Women, PYECSO collaborates with various international governmental and non-governmental organizations to implement projects across Southern, Eastern, and Western provinces of Afghanistan.
Programs and Services: Our organization provides a range of programs and services, including professional skills training, capacity building, skill-based literacy, vocational training, community mobilization, training of Shuras/communities, community-based education/accelerated learning programs, and literacy programs. These initiatives are funded by various international governmental, semi-governmental, and donor organizations.
Empowering Communities and Reducing Poverty: PYECSO is dedicated to reducing poverty and supporting disadvantaged families and children. In addition to educational and vocational initiatives, we undertake food, materials, and stationery distribution programs. We are committed to promoting gender equality and ensuring active and meaningful participation of women in all our projects and activities. Through our holistic approach to empowerment, PYECSO strives to create positive change and foster sustainable development in Afghanistan.
Goals And objectives
Goals:
- To promote universal access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in Afghanistan.
- To empower Afghan communities, particularly those most affected by ongoing conflict and socio-economic challenges, through capacity building and skills development.
- To foster peace, social cohesion, and human rights in Afghanistan through community-based initiatives.
- To promote gender equality and women's empowerment in all aspects of Afghan society.
- To advocate for policies and practices that promote the well-being and rights of vulnerable populations in Afghanistan.
Objectives:
- To increase enrollment and retention rates in schools, particularly for girls and disadvantaged children.
- To enhance the quality of education, skills development, and vocational training opportunities for Afghan youth and adults.
- To improve access to quality healthcare services, particularly in remote and conflict-affected areas.
- To promote economic opportunities and entrepreneurship through training, mentoring, and access to finance.
- To improve social cohesion and community resilience through cultural and sports activities, as well as conflict resolution and peacebuilding initiatives.
- To promote women's leadership and participation in decision-making at all levels of Afghan society.
- To advocate for policy and legal reforms that promote human rights, gender equality, and social justice in Afghanistan.
